Podcast production

The popularity of podcasts is booming, offering reporters the chance to captivate a new audience with one of the oldest storytelling techniques in the world: the spoken word. As the social media and online manager for The Forum, Westminster College’s student-run news organization, I oversaw the production of a three-part podcast series called “Westminster Stories,” which looked at issues of identity on campus. For this episode of the podcast, I interviewed a differently-abled student to explore the concept of ableism, then edited the story using Adobe Audition.

Once the piece was finished, I was responsible for promoting the podcast online — where it received higher-than-average engagement among our audience. It reached nearly 2,500 people on Facebook, generated 11 shares and received a number of comments. The piece also garnered nearly 100 listens on Soundcloud.
